How We Began

Beginning in 1993, Aileen Canen, founder of Bridges, began providing respite care for a few children and has since seen the need for Bridges' unique style of service grow. In March of 1996 Bridges opened a small day habilitation programs for adults in the Red Mountain Mall. In 2001, Bridges incorporated to officially become Bridges Habilitation Services, Inc.

As the number of individuals Bridges began to serve continued to grow, the organization was required to move several times to have the necessary room. Finally in November of 2004 Bridges purchased a campus of buildings comprising more than 8400 square feet of office space on 1 1/4 acres of beautifully landscaped property.

Bridges has always had the philosophy that each individual is important. Bridges takes pride in the fact that its small size allows each client's needs to be more fully met. We believe life should be lived with dignity and respect. Every person has the potential of happiness and we strive to make that possible for everyone.

Accreditation

Bridges, although smaller than most companies in Wyoming, is well know throughout the state. Perhaps its popularity comes from the high standards of excellence it practices. People know about Bridges because of our constant attention to the needs and desires of each client. In fact, Bridges strives to meet and exceed the standards established by the The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission, also known as CARF.

CARF expressed it's impression of Bridges Habilitation Services Inc with the following remarks:

"Parents, guardians, and other stakeholders express high levels of satisfaction with the level of communication with Bridges staff members. This high level of communication encourages stakeholders to participate in planning with the persons receiving services."

"[Bridges has] an extremely dedicated and talented staff and governance provide services that are consumer driven and based on the needs, desires, and preferences of the persons receiving services. Staff members often work long hours and provide many extra services to ensure that the individuals to the residential program receive the services they desire."

The Wyoming Department of Health endorses Bridges to provide Medicaid Home and Community-based Waiver services for both children and adults with developmentally disabilities.

The State also expressed it's impression of Bridges Habilitation Services Inc with the following remarks:

"Bridges and its employees are commended for the extensive health and safety training provided to persons receiving services."

"Commendably the organization identifies barriers to accessability on the Individual Plan of Care (IPC) of persons receiving services. The organization then takes the extra step to design a quality improvement plan to break down the barrier to accessability on the IPC. The organization has done well to break these barriers by using Uinta County resources such as Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP), Federal Housing Authority loan (FHA), Evanston Housing Authority, Lord Store House, reduced bus passes, and recreational center passes."

"Bridges has gone to great efforts to address attitudinal barriers in its accessibility plan. This attention is a demonstration of the organization's commitment to persons served."
